1. We are not a consumer reporting agency
CheckThemFirst is NOT a consumer reporting agency (CRA) as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. The information we provide is NOT a 'consumer report' under the FCRA.
2. Prohibited uses
You may not use CheckThemFirst, in whole or in part, to make any decision about a person's eligibility for: employment; credit or insurance to be used primarily for personal, family, or household purposes; housing or tenant screening; a government license or benefit; or any other purpose covered by the FCRA.
3. Nature of the data
Our results are compiled from publicly available records, commercially available data feeds, and open-source intelligence. Records vary in freshness and completeness. Signals should be treated as informational leads, not as verified statements of fact about any individual.
4. Your responsibility
Before running any lookup you must confirm that your intended use is lawful, is not covered by the FCRA, and does not violate any state analog (such as the California ICRAA/CCRAA, New York FCRA, or similar statutes).
5. Reporting misuse
If you believe someone is using CheckThemFirst for an FCRA-covered decision or to stalk, harass, or harm another person, report it immediately to abuse@checkthemfirst.com.
