1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) explains how you may — and may not — use CheckThemFirst. It supplements our Terms of Service. By accessing the service you agree to follow this policy.
2. Permissible reasons for a lookup
You may only run a lookup if you have a lawful, personal reason: identifying an unknown caller, reconnecting with someone you know, verifying an online contact before sharing personal information, or reviewing your own digital footprint.
3. Prohibited uses (anti-stalking notice)
By using this service you agree NOT to use it to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, dox, or harm any individual, or to make decisions prohibited under the FCRA. This includes decisions about employment, tenant screening, credit, insurance, education, or professional licensing. Misuse may violate federal and state law and will result in immediate account termination.
4. Automated access
You may not scrape, crawl, resell, mirror, or bulk-download reports. Access to CheckThemFirst is for a single, human end-user, not for redistribution or training of third-party systems.
5. Enforcement
We may suspend or terminate accounts, refuse refunds, and cooperate with law enforcement where we reasonably believe this policy has been violated. Report suspected misuse to abuse@checkthemfirst.com.
6. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
